In June 2022, Garena’s Garena Free Fire was the “most-played” mobile game on Google Play Store. Garena Free Fire from Garena was the most downloaded game on Google Play for Android users in June 2022, according to Sensor Tower’s ‘Top Mobile Games Worldwide for June 2022 by Downloads’ Earlier this year, India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology banned the popular multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game Garena Free Fire (MeitY).

India’s authorities restricted the game along with 53 other apps for the sake of national security. These apps have been labeled a “threat to national security” because of concerns that they collect private information about their users.

Isoland 2: Ashes of Time Lite, Rise of Kingdoms: Lost Crusade, Conquer Online, and Twilight Pioneers were also among the most played titles to have their access to Garena Free Fire restricted.

The second “most popular” game overall, according to both Android and iOS users.
With 24.7 million downloads across Google Play and the App Store in June, Garena Free Fire ranked as the world’s #2 most popular mobile game.

An increase of 26.9 percent compared to the same time the previous year (June 2021). In June of 2022, there were 4.6 billion downloads of mobile games across the App Store and Google Play, a rise of 2.2% over the previous year.

In Garena Free Fire, players spend 10 minutes vs. 49 other players on a deserted island, each fighting for their own life. Jumping out at any moment, players must use their parachutes to make it to the safe zone as quickly as possible. To live is to heed the ‘call of duty,’ as the saying goes.
