A Tamale High Court presided over by His Lordship Richard Kogyapwa will deliver judgment in the infamous Tamale Medical Store Fraud.
26-year-old National Service Person Danyagiri Mark who is the main suspect in the case is facing charges of stealing, forgery, and money laundering after his arrest last year and is likely to be thrown into jail
After the prosecution called four witnesses including the prosecutor, the court is set to deliver the final judgment today April 21, 2021.
Background
Danyagiri Mark was arrested after it turned out that he capitalize on the weak administrative structures at the Tamale Medical Stores and stole paid cheques, altered them paid the same into Sunyani Branch (D.V Procurement Account) amounting to GHS163,000 to which he was the sole signatory.
One of such cheques had a face value of GHS103,000 from the Salaga Hospital in the East Gonja District which he lodged into the an account at Stanbic Sunyani.
Details coupled with documents available to MyNewsGh.com, suggest that suspect Danyagiri Mark opened the account with the name, Danyagiri Veterinary (DV) Drug Procurement Account and also provided the bank with details from the Registrar General’s Department as required by the Bank of Ghana(BoG) Regulations.
Upon his arrest, he admitted using part of the money to purchase an unregistered Toyota Corrola vehicle amounting to GHS78, 000 and some gadgets including iPhones.
Police investigators also retrieved a cash amount GHS39, 975.00 from him at the time of his arrest which he admitted was part of the money he stole
