Kumasi Asante Kotoko and other teams can get back to their root for their game as Baba Yara’s Sports Stadium is almost ready.

Before the beginning of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League the Baba Yara Stadium was under renovation.

For decades Baba Yara Sports Stadium has been the traditional home of Asante Kotoko but the Porcupine Warriors have been forced to accept Accra Sports Stadium as their native country since last season due to the closure of Baba Yara stadium for renovation purposes.

Renovation plans originally were scheduled to be completed in October last year, but the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic delayed the work progress and further pushed the completion date.

The renovation work is progressing, with almost 100% finishing. There have been 40,500 seats, flood lights, brand new scoreboards, and others.

Photos of the social media indicate the seats and all the stadiums were renovated.

“It is obvious that Bechem United are on a good form and they finished in a better position compared to ours,” he said on Asempa FM.

“They had a good campaign and without a doubt, they have quality players. In the Premier League, they held us to a goalless game at the Accra Sports Stadium, and in Bechem, we played a 1-1 draw.

“But this is the FA and many have touted Bechem United to win the trophy because they are on good form. We are underdogs and we are fine with that but I believe the players will prove their critics wrong on Sunday.
