Resign For Your Own Interest – Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa To Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng AKA Kwabena Adu Gyamfi

Published

on

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the NDC’s MP for the North Tongu constituency, has urged that Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng, Secretary to the Board of Trustees of the National Cathedral, be forced to resign in his own ego and has threatened to release further scandalous information about him.

The North Tongu Mp said this while praising the Board of Trustees for agreeing to a statutory audit by Deloitte, giving indication to cooperate with the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), and requesting a parliamentary probe into the construction of the cathedral.

“The power of the people has triggered quite some positive actions from the National Cathedral Board of Trustees;

It’s obvious the suspended project will remain suspended until independent audits and various probes are concluded;

Glad they will fully cooperate with the CHRAJ investigations following my petition;

The Deloitte audit must be made public when completed…

Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng AKA Kwabena Adu Gyamfi must be made to resign from the Board of Trustees without further delay—this would be in his own interest, particularly, having regard for the additional exposés in the pipeline;

The Board of Trustees’ request for a parliamentary probe is most welcome, and I do hope Right Honourable Speaker Bagbin would approve our motion demanding an enquiry into the entire scandal-dominated cathedral project as submitted to his office last year…,”Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa wrote.

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has accused Rev Kusi Boateng of corruption, fraud, double identity and self-dealing. He put out some documents as evidence for his accusations.

Rev Kusi Boateng in response said that the accusations are part of the hurdles he has to cross as one who is rising and engaged in worthwhile activities.

NPP’s Have Caused Hardship In Ghana – Kennedy Agyapong

Published

on

Kennedy Agyapong

New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Kennedy Agyapong, claims that the current administration made mistakes that contributed to the economic hardship Ghanaians are currently experiencing.

Advertisement

The repercussions of COVID-19 and the Russia-Ukraine crisis, which are destroying economies all across the world, were not entirely ignored by him.

“I always say that if we had a vote today in the entire world, 80% of the sitting governments would lose because the population cannot take the misery everywhere, making every government unpopular,” he stated.

Advertisement

But he holds the opinion that several policies and programs were carried out incorrectly, which also contributed to the country’s difficulties.

I’ll also add that, in hindsight, there are some things we did wrong that, in my opinion, would have prevented the current state of the economy.

He vehemently criticized the money wasted on NABCO, saying that it might have instead been used to establish companies and hire kids instead of the three-year program that ended and left graduates who were enrolled jobless once more.

About 100,000 youngsters were engaged by NABCO at GHC700 per month, or GHC700 million. For these young men, we could have created enterprises with 700 million. Although there won’t be 100,000 people employed, “young men and women could find employment because of the sustainability,” he claimed.

He said that despite the NPP’s errors, it is important to “fight propaganda by the NDC because a same thing happened with President Kufour when the first six to seven years he did marvelously well and the world crude oil prices went up, transportation, food, Ghanaians could not forgive the NPP.”

We Need A New Face And Look Ahead Of 2024 Polls – Joseph Yammin

We Need A New Face And Look Ahead Of 2024 Polls - Joseph Yammin

NDC National Organizer and outspoken leading member of the National Democratic Congress in the Ashanti Region Joseph Yammin says the changes in the NDC’s leadership in Parliament is to give the party a new face and new look ahead of the election 2024.

He claims that the competence of the current leadership, which is led by Haruna Iddrisu, has nothing to do with the most recent changes in parliament.

When he said this, Joseph Yammin was speaking on the OKAY Fm in Accra.

The National Organizer said, “going into 2024, we thought about going with a new face. When you decide to go with a new face, definitely some people will be affected. Not because they are not better, not because they have problems with people, but because all those in Parliament deserve the appointment. So our decision is just because we need a new face in Parliament going into the 2024 elections”.

On whether Ato Forson was appointed because he has an economic and finance background, he said “it’s one of the justifications, but that is not all”.

Joseph Yamin believes that with the number of years Ato Forson has been in Parliament, he will perform.

Mahama Is Against Changing Haruna Iddrisu And Co – Kwesi Pratt Jr

Published

on

Comrade Kwesi Pratt Jr., the Ghanaian journalist and managing editor at the Insight newspaper has disclosed that former President John Dramani Mahama, though was consulted in the latest reshuffle of the Minority leadership in parliament, he was not in support of the changes.

Advertisement

“The former president did not endorse this”, he revealed, based on his impression from conversations he had with top echelon of the party.

“I have spoken to many people, and from what I’m told, unless those who spoke to me are a bunch of bloody liars and so on; the former president did not appear to be very happy about this arrangement,” Mr. Pratt said on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana, Wednesday.

The National Democratic Congress has written to the Speaker of Parliament, informing him of changes to the leadership of the minority in the legislature.

The party replaced Haruna Iddrisu as the Minority Leader with Dr Cassiel Ato Forson. It also named Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah and Kwame Agbodza as the new Deputy Minority Leader and Chief Whip, respectively.

“I am told that he actually advised against it…from what I am hearing, he cautioned against this move,” the Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper stressed.

His revelation sought to expose assertion by the NDC General Secretary, Fifi Kwetey that former President Mahama’s views reflected in the decision.

Fifi Kwetey told Citi FM that a wide consultation was done with those that mattered with regard to the changes.

“What needed to be done about this reshuffling was done and the people duly consulted. All the key leaders have been consulted. The former President, Mahama was consulted and his views duly reflected. The new and old leaders were informed and consulted,” he claimed.

But Mr. Kwesi Pratt who joins a number of people criticizing the reshuffle said even those consulted, including former President Mahama, were opposed to the shake-up in its current form.

“And if he [Mahama] cautioned against this move, I think it is most unfair to state publicly that he was involved in arriving at this decision. You understand, because you put him in a tight corner that he cannot come out to say I disagree with the national executives. It is most unfair, most, most unfair to treat the former president this way.

“I spoke to many friends and the impression I got was that the former president did not endorse this.”

The party leadership said it took into consideration regional balance and economic issues ahead of the 2024 general elections in arriving at that decision.

But Mr. Pratt calls the changes and reasons assigned by the leadership as a “joke”, noting that he is “very disappointed” in the decision and impressed on the party to reverse it because its ramification for the party would be dire.

According to the seasoned journalist who has been vocal in expressing his opinion on national issues, he spoke to at least 10 members of parliament from the NDC side who expressed surprise about the shake-up, and complained of not being consulted.

“You are appointing leaders for people, you are not appointing shepherd for sheep…where you don’t need to consult the sheep before appointing the shepherd,” he analysed.
